Still Here...Physically

First, Merry belated Christmas and Happy new year! The end of 2012  was a bit rough and so far, 2013 isn't shaping up as we would like. Kristen has had a continuous fever for about a month and a half save it be for five glorious days after ending a 10-day antibiotic regimen and trying to boost her immune system with vitamin c supplements. So, now she gets to go back to her primary care physician for a full lab work up and x-rays. Oh the joy! Other than a minor flu-like virus and just having to deal with all the crud in the air, Scott's health seems to be good. Murphy has already struck and drained our small savings with some car repairs: the heater core was clogged and thermostat was replaced on the Blazer and the window motor on the Trailblazer had to be replaced. Is it bad that we want a sugar mama/daddy? (Wink, wink)

Kristen's job is doing well, her company reported a better beginning this year and expects business to get better, which is comforting. Scott's project is winding down and he expects to be laid off by summer at the latest. The union has reported some other projects that will be starting, so perhaps the lay-off won't last as long. Either way, we are resuming out total money makeover plan until the lay off comes. Thankfully, we are getting a little refund, which will help with that.

We also have plans to renovate our basement areas and will try to start slowly buying supplies for that so that Scott can work on part of that while he looks for work. Basically, we are going to move our smaller bedroom to the basement and make that middle level an open family room. We'll also make a small hallway to separate the bedroom from our den area (aka the man cave). It sure is nice to have a handy "handyman" in the family!

No other major goals for 2013 except for continuing to work on getting our finances in better shape and seeing a fertility specialist when Kristen is feeling better. Tmi? ;-)
