Asthma Update

I went to the allergist on Monday and discovered that I am allergic to cats, which is a MAJOR bummer since I have two cute and cuddly cats who I can't bear to live without. I also confirmed that I am allergic to grass and pollen, but I already had a hunch about this as I always suffered during pollen season growing up. The doctor has put me on an action plan that includes a Flovent inhaler twice a day on the "green" days and Proventil (a quick-acting inhaler) on yellow and red days. The doctor also wants me to get my acid reflux treated to see if that will alleviate some of the problems (it could be a combination of the cats and the acid reflux/heartburn that is really causing me grief). Scott and I have plans to scrub down the house and vaccum like mad and buy some air purifiers and perhaps a better furnace filter. If I am still the same when I follow up in a month, then I will look into allergy shots. If all else fails...well, let's not think about that right now! Unfortunately, I cannot get into see the Gastroenterologist until October, so I managed to convince them to call in another prescription for Aciphex. This time, the formulary brand was not called in and I had to pay $90. The next time I refill, I am taking it to Smiths and using my secondary insurance as well. I'm telling you, my body is pshyching itself out because of my upcoming 30th later this year. I'm confident that once my 30th has come and gone, that all will settle down.
