Moving on up, one step at a t ime!

I'd like to say that our financial situation is past its worst, but I think it's still a bit too soon to say. I'm praying that we'll be able to make our mortgage payment before the grace period is up and late fee is added (and when the late fee is added, the credit bureau is notified). I've been trying to buy the bare minimum, which still appears spensive! The Lord has blessed us; however, and I'm sure feel feel the financial effects of those blessings soon enough. Most of Saturday was spent consolidating my student loans and attempting to refinance Scott's car. I managed to consolidate on a graduated extended payment plan starting off at $274/mo and going up as the years go by. I chose this plan because it offered the lowest monthly payments, which is what I need at this time. And if in a couple years, when the payment is adjusted, I can do the increase, I can select another repayment plan. I will also contact them to see if I can still defer my payments, at least until we get back on our feet. Unfortunately, our credit union could not refince Scott's car because of my late student loans, but they were able to adjust our interest rate and lower our monthly payments without extending our terms, which I'm thinking is a better deal in the long run, so I'll be able to pay off my car in about two years and for less monthly payments. All in all, I don't think we could have done much better. My plan is to get these little medical bills paid off and to save up a little nest egg before making extra payments somewhere else.
