1) Reuters has reported that CSI creator, Anthony Zuker, has vowed to "drive viewers back to television."Well, I would kindly like to remind television show creators, writers, and network stations that certain ratings wouldn't be so low had there not been a writers strike this past season and had certain television networks not interrupted certain shows for long periods of time right in the middle of the previous season. The longer a show is off the air, the harder one must work at generating interest. And the longer a show is on the air, the harder one must work to generate new ideas for episodes and exciting twists to keep the audience wanting to come back for more. So, my advice is to work together, network stations, writers, and the like at building and maintaining relationships because when those relationships fail, the shows do eventually. This happened to me with Law and Order SVU. There was a long break mid season 2006-07 and now I don't even watch new episodes because I have found something else that keeps my attention. I'm also a full time student, so if I can tevo it, I am looking for it online or ON Demand through Comcast. Therefore, shows like ER, which don't have full episodes online or On Demand, may suffer if my (or anybody else's) Tevo fails.
2) Another Reuters report regarding the lawsuit between J.K. Rowling and RDR Books publishing company for copyright infringement and plagiarism for a Harry Potter encyclopedia-type book. First, I can't help but think that J.K. Rowling is sueing because this book was finished before she had the chance to capitlize even further on her unique and brilliant storyline of the accomplished boy wizard. It is not uncommon for people to write books based on their own interpreations by using original characters and examples from books. But in all fairness to J.K. Rowling, she did mention publically (well before the seventh book was even published) that she had plans for an eighth book that would kind of give entertaining tidbits of information that would expand on certain characters and examples from previous books, an encyclopedia-type book if you will. So, the author of this current Harry Potter encyclopedia and the publishing company really can't justify their actions, in my opinion.
